1. Overview
Apptly ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
The short version: we collect as little as possible, your notes are encrypted, and our AI features run on your device. We do not sell your data.
2. What we collect
Account information When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only the email address associated with that account.
Notes and content Your notes are stored encrypted on our servers and on your device. We use end-to-end encryption for notes — this means we cannot read the content of your notes. Your notes are not accessible to Apptly employees.
AI features All AI features in Apptly — including summaries, note linking, and voice transcription — run on your device using on-device machine learning models. Your note content is never sent to a server to power AI features.
Usage data We collect anonymised, aggregated data about how features are used — for example, how many users activate the daily digest widget. This data cannot be linked to individual users or notes. We use this data to improve the product.
Crash reports If the app crashes, we receive a crash report that includes device type, operating system version, and the code path that caused the crash. Crash reports do not include note content.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Data sharing
We share data with the following third parties:
Payment processing: Stripe processes payment information. We do not store your card details.
Email delivery: Transactional emails (account verification, receipts) are sent via a third-party email provider. We share only your email address for this purpose.
Cloud infrastructure: Our servers are hosted on encrypted cloud infrastructure. Note content stored on servers is end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device.
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or AI training pipelines.
5. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and data
Export your notes at any time (Settings → Export)
Opt out of anonymised usage analytics

6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all associated data within 30 days.
7. Children
Apptly is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at privacy@apptly.app.
8. Changes to this policy
We will notify you by email and in-app notification if we make material changes to this privacy policy. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
